But now I'm not sure what modem to actually get. I want to stick with tomato, but I'm not all that attached to my e3000, so I don't mind getting a new all in one unit, but as far as I'm aware, I don't think there is a modem/router combo that works with tomato?

I have shibby latest tomato on it that is tomato-K26USB-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-100-Nocat-VPN . Every thing is working on the router as it should be I have done tinkering with with 3 modem Sierra Wireless 595U EVDO modem ZTE AC 30 ( EVDO and GSM modem MIFI ) Huawei E1731 3G GSM modem . I am trying to connect EVDO modem Sierra Wireless 595U and use the 3G .
Nov 16, 2014 Configuring a second router as a WiFi access point using Worked perfectly with my E2500 V3 (Tomato Firmware 1.28.0000 MIPSR2-3.5-140 K26 USB Mega-VPN). My stock firmware would lock up every few weeks, so I’m hoping this won’t or at least I can set it to reboot once a week like my router (E2000 with DD-WRT).
