I have a Verizon MiFi 4510L which I got just for playing on Xbox Live. You don't need a router because your Xbox wireless connection will find the MiFi and you connect to it once you have set up the proper settings. The process is just like setting up the Xbox with a router. I live in Florida and my ping rate is always between 125 to 135 ms.
I recently got a new router, Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 and after setup my Xbox one x is having the issue saying UPnP isn't working. This setting is turned on in my router settings. If you have multiple devices needing Open NAT then you will need your own router, probably with uPnP support. Preferred connections for gaming consoles is wired however certain wireless connections work well if configured correctly. After all that, just power down both Xbox one’s, then power down your router for a couple of minutes. Next power router back on; once the router has completely returned to operational state power on your Xbox ones. Every time the router is reset the Xbox ones need to be powered down before powering up your router.
